Solvent Abuse.

Solvents cost only a few pounds,

Effects of solvents

*Users say it like being drunk with a dizziness, dreaminess, and giggles effect.

*It can be very difficult to think straight

*The hit is quite short so users tend to keep repeating the dose to keep the feeling going.

*Depending on what type of solvents are inhaled some users can hallucinate, this can last up to about 45minutes.

*It can give a sense of having a hangover afterwards giving them a very bad headache and making them very sleepy.

*Depending on what type of solvent and how they inhale it can also give the users a red Rosharon their mouths.

The risk       *User risk having nausea (vomiting) and blackouts

*At the worst risk fatal heart problems which have been known to kill the user, even with the very first sniff/inhale of the solvent.

*Squirting gas products down the throat is a particularly dangerous way of taking the drugs.
It can make your throat swell so you can’t breathe and make your heart rate slow to
a very dangerous (low) level.

*User can risk of suffocation if inhaling from a plastic bag over the head.

*Long term abuse of solvents has been shown to damage the brain, liver and kidneys.

*To much can put you in a coma.

*Using a combination with alcohol can lead to an increased risk of death.

*All sorts of famous household names. Each contain different substances with different effects.
Solvents are sniffed from a cloth a sleeve or a plastic bag. Some users put a plastic bag over their heads and inhale.
Gas products are squirted directly into the back of the throat. Most users are between 11 and 16, but sometimes it can happen in adulthood.

The law

*Solvents misuse is not illegal. It is illegal in England and Wales for a shopkeeper to sell someone intoxicating substance
if they think the person is likely to inhale them. The law makes it and
offence to supply gas lighter refills to and one under the age of 18.
